Chapter 0: I’m Sad. But I’m Trying.
Hi. I’m Sad. But I’m Trying.
And this podcast is what that looks like—one week at a time.
I’m not here to fix you. I’m not even fixed myself. But I’m here, I’m trying, and I haven’t given up. If you’re in the middle of your own fight, I hope this gives you something to hold onto—or at least something to sit beside.
I’ve been battling depression since I was twelve. At the start of this year, I began the most intensive treatment of my life. This show is a record of that war—what I hope will be its final battle. I’m tired of just surviving. I want more. And I think you do too.
If you’ve been here—really here—you know the pain of barely living. Of staying for other people. Of holding on even when it hurts. You also know that pain makes you gentler. It means someone out there needs you to stay.
So here’s the deal: let’s try. Together. Not perfectly, not always gracefully—but honestly. This podcast is a soft place, a safe place. A place to listen, reflect, and let someone else carry the weight for a while.
You can engage however feels right. But if you're open to it:
Try with me. Each week, I’ll share something I’m doing to keep going—tools, questions, small wins.
Read with me. Books have held me up when nothing else could. I’ll share the ones that help.
Write to me. Share your story, your questions, your staying. Even just say, “I’m still here.”
This show is built around literary structure—volumes and chapters, metaphors and margins. Each episode is a check-in: on progress, process, proof. A reminder that trying counts—even when it doesn’t look like much.
If this feels like something you want to walk alongside, you can also find me on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube @imsadbutimtrying, or visit imsadbutimtrying.com to send in your own Dispatch.
I’m not here to tell you how to fix your life. I’m here to show you what trying looks like for me—and maybe help you feel less alone in your own trying, too.
This is I'm Sad But I'm Trying.
With love from the trenches.
Still sad. Still trying.
